A gift card to me allows me to enjoy the anticipation of taking the time to shop in my busy life.  I shop on-line so I watch for deals and sale items to purchase with my gift card.  I take the time to look at new and exciting products on the site and I know the person who gave the card to me thought about what I care about, what I buy, what is interesting to me.  It actually gives me months of enjoyment, and I'm certainly not even close to what you would call a shopaholic.  Then I order, sometimes more than once, and receive exactly what I want.  Sometimes I purchase things we both can enjoy. 
I can't ask for more satisfaction than that, and through it all I think of the person that gave it to me.
