Safe Natural Bug Protection for Your Family

We are located in the Northeast US along the Canadian Border.  We have not a few deer, we have herds of deer never mind the chipmunks, squirrels and other animals that ticks cling to.  We have been here over 25 years and until last fall had never had tick problems.  Last fall I got my first tick.  This spring I got my second tick and am a little freaked out, really freaked out actually.  But yard work must be done.  So I have spent the last week dressing and more dressing for yard work.  Lots of layered clothes, everything tucked in with no openings (any openings have been taped), bug hat in place, spray the clothes and any exposed skin with Tick Repellent and we are good to go, a little hot but I am protected.  My neighbors don't understand and think I have lost my mind.  Better hot and safe then to spend an hour removing ticks that could give me lyme disease or any of the other diseases carried by ticks.  I have learned a lot about ticks, the three stages of development and preferring a new host for each stage.  I can even now tell a female from a male.  A lot of things I did not really want to know but am now glad that I do for me and my family.  To learn more about ticks visit - https://www.cdc.gov/ticks/index.html
Ticks hang out in tall grass, in leaf piles and in the lower branches of trees just waiting for the next victim to walk by so they can drop onto or grab on to you.  Stay out of the tall grass as much as possible.  Keep your lawn meticulously trimmed.  Walk pathways if possible (not deer trails though).  And Remember to not transmit ticks from clothes worn outside to other clothing or bring them into your living areas.  Put clothes in the dryer on high heat for 60 minutes and ticks will be killed.  If you do get a tick proper removal is by tweezers with steady upward pressure until it is dislodged.  For more on proper tick removal please visit - https://www.cdc.gov/ticks/removing_a_tick.html
